Christ Church supports Ellerslie Santa Parade

On Sunday 6 December a group from Christ Church participated in this popular and colourful community event. Although dwarfed by most of the other local organisations taking part in the parade the group still made a great impression. Click here for a photo.
Ably lead by Chris (who carried the cross with great effect) the group was able to give out hundreds of flyers advertising the church Christmas services and events. It certainly was a great opportunity to promote Christ Church to the community and to remind the people watching of the true ‘”reason for the season”.
Note that Pam Stone did her best to steal the show but unfortunately couldn’t compete with Santa on the day! Click here for a photo.

There are still several upcoming Christmas events

25 October – Rev. Chee’s departure

On Sunday 25 October, Reverend Chee Keong Yong, our vicar for over seven years, was farewelled by parishioners at a special service followed by a lunch in the church hall. Chee has been called to serve the Lord in the Devonport parish and was warmly welcomed into their ministry team at a special service held on 1 November.

As a result of Reverend Yong’s departure, the Reverend Chris Barnes has been appointed acting priest in charge of our parish. Chris will be with us part-time as he will also be continuing in his port chaplaincy role with the Mission to Seafarers. Chris and Elwyn were welcomed at a special service and morning tea at Christ Church held also on 1 November. This photo shows Chris and his wife Elwyn extending their Christian friendship and hospitality to the crew of a visiting merchant ship.
